Physical Characteristics: Belonging to the quartz family, a silicon dioxide. Hardness of 7. Color is derived from iron and aluminum in trace amounts, as well as some form of natural or man-made irradiation. These points have a 'phantom' formation, and have been polished smooth. Phantom formations are crystals that appear to have a shadow or ghost-like crystal on the inside, and are caused by the growth of the crystal stopping and then starting again. The phantoms are often a simple chevron shape or perhaps multiple chevrons, but some may appear more complete.
Metaphysical Properties: Amethyst is a stone of protection and cleansing. It is a stone of royalty and therefore has been used as a prosperity stone. It is said to have been one of the stones of the breastplate of the High Priest of the Israelites. Amethyst phantoms can help access previous life states prior to birth, therefore aiding deciphering what lessons have been learned in each life cycle, and perhaps what lessons remain.
