Physical Characteristics: Jasper is a variety of Quartz, specifically Chalcedony. A silicon dioxide mineral. Hardness of 6.5 - 7. This piece has been tumbled and shaped into a prayer stone or perfect pocket stone.
Metaphysical Properties: Jasper is often worn by shamen for protection. It is a nurturing stone, aiding in thinking of others and their needs. It is also a balancing stone, helping with balancing the chakras as well as yin/yang energies. It can protect during astral and physical travel, and was often used by the ancients. Small tumbled stones are perfect for pocket stones or medicine bags, though they may get scratched if they are soft.
