Physical Characteristics: Nephrite is a form of Jade containing Actinolite. This Nephrite comes from Guatemala, and is often called Mayan Jade.
Metaphysical Properties: In addition to Jade and Actinolite properties, Nephrite can balance male and female energies. It can also balance these energies in a male/female relationship. The ancient Mayans often created carvings in Nephrite, Jade, and Jadeite. In historical China, Nephrite was considered as a sacred stone, used in carvings and sacred tools. It has also been used as a stone of protection against attack and illness by tribal groups in New Zealand.
