Physical Characteristics: Also known as "Fool's Gold", pyrite is an iron sulfide mineral. Hardness of 6-6.5. Name is derived from Greek word for fire since striking pyrite with steel will sometimes produce sparks. Found all over the world, especially in Spain, Peru and Italy. CAUTION: MAY CONTAIN SULFUR THAT COULD LEACH INTO WATER. Not recommended for elixirs.
