Physical Characteristics: A form of crystallized gypsum (a hydrous calcium sulfate), selenite has a hardness 2. Gypsum is a common mineral found in many locations, especially in clay beds, evaporated seas, salt flats, and caves. Selenite comes in many forms. This selenite is fibrous, and has been left in raw form except for the cuts made at each end. CAUTION: VERY FRIABLE, SHARDS MAY BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TO INGEST OR BREATHE. CARE SHOULD BE USED IF CUTTING OR CARVING THIS MATERIAL. Not recommended for elixirs.
Metaphysical Properties: These pieces can be used as altar pieces or as wands to direct energy. Since Selenite is very soft, a hack saw will cut it if you want to break it up into smaller pieces (BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREATHE ANY DUST GENERATED WHILE CUTTING). The fibrous form of Selenite is reminiscent of an optic fiber--if you shine light on one end, it will be carried to the other through the Selenite. Therefore, it is a good conductor of energy. It can also be used to achieve clarity of mind. When used in meditation, you may be able to see the inner workings of situations and see where things are going.
Please note that the pictures and weights will change according to the option chosen, but the measurements will not. There is a ruler included in each photo to give the scale of the piece.
