Physical Characteristics: Jadeite is a form of Jade with a hardness of 6.5 - 7. This Jadeite is a dark green, and if the slab is thin enough light travels through it revealing the deep color. Often called Mayan Jade, this piece is from Guatemala.
Metaphysical Properties: Ancient Mayans and Aztecs used Jadeite as a stone of magic, especially for protection and prosperity. They often carved this stone into deity forms, and was so treasured that only the elite possessed Jadeite as a display of their status. In modern times Jadeite can help improve group dynamics and/or dysfunctional relationships, bringing cohesion and recognizing common goals.
