Physical Characteristics: Rhodochrosite is a mangonese carbonite with a hardness 3.5 to 4. It can be found in Argentina, Romania, China, and in Colorado in the U.S. These pieces are from the Sweet Home Mine near Alma, CO, pulled out just before the mine was sealed in 2004 and are therefore very limited in number and hard to find for purchase. The pieces are purely natural with the matrix still included. The Sweet Home Mine is where the world's finest Rhodochrosite specimen, the Alma King, was pulled out of the ground in 1992. That specimen is on display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Currently they are exploring nearby for new sources.
Metaphysical Properties: This "Stone of Love and balance" provides love and balance for the body on all levels. It brings in heavenly energies, and is a great mediation tool. It can also be used to give Mother Earth love and healing energy. It can be used for energizing or purification. It works well with the base, sacral, and heart chakras.
